WHAT A BARKIN’: Circle the date and microchip your best mate
Chip in for your best friend at Council’s discounted Microchipping Day from 8.30am to 3.45pm on Saturday 25 May at the Gladstone Pound Facility.
An authorised microchip implanter will be on hand to administer microchips for all animals (cats and dogs) aged eight weeks and over.
The cost for microchipping is $20 per animal and each microchipping appointment is a 15-minute session available from 8.30am onwards.
Gladstone Region Deputy Mayor Natalia Muszkat said microchipping not only provides a simple solution to return your pet if it goes missing, but it also has financial benefits.
“Microchipping your pet will reduce your annual animal registration fees by $17 - $19 per annum,” Councillor Muszkat said.
“In addition to this, desexing and microchipping your pet can reduce your annual registration up to $80 per annum.
“Ultimately, this is about responsible pet ownership and Council proudly encourages responsible pet ownership throughout the region.”
Bookings are essential – no walk-ins allowed. Phone Council on (07) 4970 0700 or visit your nearest Council Office or Rural Transaction Centre (RTC) to secure an appointment.
Only one person per animal must attend the appointment. For the safety of people and other pets, animals must be restrained on a leash or in a cage.
The Gladstone Pound Facility is located at 17 Albert Street, Callemondah.
