Celebrate connection and culture at Welcoming Week
Are you new to the Gladstone Region? Would you like to connect with residents both new and longterm? Join us to celebrate culture and connection at Council's first Welcoming Week event.
Celebrated in hundreds of communities around the globe, Welcoming Week is an annual campaign that connects neighbours of all backgrounds through community-led activities and events.
The Gladstone Region’s Welcoming Week event will be held at the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct from 9am until noon on Saturday 16 September 2023.
Come along for a free morning tea and coffee, an official welcoming ceremony, children’s activities, on-stage performances and a welcome from Mayor Matt Burnett.
There will also be stallholders showcasing local services that may be helpful to new residents.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said new residents are a vital part of our community, bringing fresh perspectives, new ideas and contributing to the prosperity of our region.
“Moving to a new area can be daunting at times and the Welcoming Week morning tea is an event that new residents can attend to make them feel welcome and valued,” Councillor Burnett said.
“It is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with some valuable local services and connect with other community members.”
