Tom Jeffery Memorial Park bridge reopens to the public
Works to reconnect Agnes Water residents and visitors back to the beach is now complete following the reinstatement of the bridge at Tom Jeffery Memorial Park.
The bridge was repaired off-site by a local contractor and reinstated on Tuesday 22 August, reopening to the public on Monday 28 August.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett thanked the Agnes Water community for their patience while reinstatement works took place.
“This is fantastic news and I look forward to seeing this bridge used by many people for many years to come,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Council received full external funding via the Queensland Reconstruction Authority for the bridge restoration and reinstatement.
“There are some minor Council-funded upgrade works still left to complete at Tom Jeffery Memorial Park and this work will occur over the coming weeks as we aim to avoid this area during the September school holidays.
“Once again, I’d like to thank the people of Agnes Water for their patience and understanding while these works were carried out.”
The Tom Jeffery Memorial Park bridge project is jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
