The repaired bridge will be reinstalled across five days from Monday 21 August until Friday 25 August.  

In the interests of public safety, Tom Jeffery Memorial Park will be fully closed to the public from 2125 August with no access to the carpark, public amenities, or the beach.  

Alternative public beach access points are available during this time and include:

• Arthurs Park Beach Access (nearest northern public beach access)
• The Promenade
• Atlantis Boulevard
• North Break Drive
• Ocean Dune Court
• Waterline Close
• Surf Club Avenue.  

Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said works to reinstate the bridge have already started with the installation of precast concrete piles and headstock.  

“Preparation works will continue until 17 August ahead of a full park closure the following week,” Councillor Burnett said.  

“Nearby businesses and residents have been informed of these works in advance, while signage will be in place alerting tourists and beach goers of alternative beach access points.  

“Access to Agnes Street and Jeffery Court will be disrupted at times due to the movement of heavy machinery, although most of these disruptions will occur earlier in the week.”  

Cr Burnett added that Council will undertake additional maintenance at Tom Jeffery Memorial Park while it is closed.  

“In addition to this maintenance, once the bridge is operational Council will remove the existing black aluminium pool fencing adjoining the caravan park and replace it with a timber paling fence,” he said.  

“Site remediation works, including laying of new turf, will also occur following the repaired bridge being returned to its location with temporary fencing to be installed around the turf to allow for its root system to form.  

“I’d like to once again thank the Agnes Water community for their patience while we work to reconnect them to the beach.”
