Orange Sky launches at Philip Street Precinct
People struggling to keep a roof over their head, or those who simply do not have a roof at all, are encouraged to utilise a new service available at the Philip Street Communities & Families Precinct.
Orange Sky, a free mobile laundry service designed for homeless people, launched at the Precinct on Wednesday 17 May and will operate two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.30am to 11.30am.
Orange Sky volunteers on hand at the station – featuring two washing machines and two dryers – are not only there to assist with laundry needs, but to also provide an empathetic ear.
They are focussed on creating a safe, positive and supportive environment for people who are too often ignored or who feel disconnected from the community.
And because they are located at the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct, people accessing Orange Sky for their laundry can also access other services from the likes of The Salvation Army, Gladstone Community and Neighbourhood Centre and The Smith Family, who also recently set up at the Precinct.
Learn more by visiting orangesky.org.au or phone the Precinct on 4976 6300.
