Two positions available to join Council’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Reference Group
Gladstone Regional Council is seeking two new members to join our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) Reference Group.
The RAP Reference Group provides Council with strategic advice on the views, needs and interests of First Nations people in the Gladstone Region.
Gladstone Region Councillor and RAP Reference Group co-chair Natalia Muszkat said the volunteer positions will join the group for a two-year term.
“The RAP Reference Group provides valuable and knowledgeable feedback and advice to Council and supports the enhancement of relationships with the First Nations people of our region,” Councillor Muszkat said.
“Nominees must be either a First Nations resident of the Gladstone Region, or a representative chosen by a local service provider or organisation in the Gladstone Region.”
Cr Muszkat said the RAP Reference Group was one part of Council’s continued advocacy towards reconciliation.
“Council developed its first Reflect RAP in 2018 and is progressing with its second Innovate RAP, which is set to continue until January 2023,” she said.
“In July last year we endorsed the Uluru Statement from the Heart to support a First Nations voice in the Constitution.
“While there is still more work to be done, as a Council we are making our voices count to enable a First Nations voice to be heard.”
Expressions of interest to join the RAP Reference Group are now open, closing on Friday 8 July.
Expressions can be submitted digitally via:
- Council’s website at www.gladstone.qld.gov.au/reconciliation-action-plan
