Nominate someone for recognition during National Volunteer Week
Do you know of a volunteer who should be recognised for their contribution to the Gladstone Region community?
Then now is the time to nominate someone who you believe is worthy of recognition during National Volunteer Week.
National Volunteer Week, running from 16-22 May, is Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteers and celebrates the contributions of Australia’s almost six million volunteers.
Before National Volunteer Week arrives, Gladstone Regional Council is asking people to nominate someone who they would like to see recognised for their commitment to our community.
Nominations are now open and close at 9am on Tuesday, 26 April.
All nominees will receive a certificate and an invitation to attend a National Volunteer’s Week recognition celebration to be held at various locations across the region.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said National Volunteer Week provides a perfect opportunity to celebrate and thank volunteers for the work they do.
“You can nominate yourself or a volunteer that you want to see recognised for their commitment to our community,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Whether it be through involvement at local sport each weekend or providing support services to those in our community in need, all volunteers make a world of difference to our community.”
Cr Burnett said the theme for this year’s National Volunteer Week is Better Together.
“This theme acknowledges that volunteering brings people together, helps build communities and creates a better society for everyone,” he said.
