Granite Creek culvert planned to reopen to single lane traffic
Repairs to Granite Creek culvert, near Lowmead, are expected to be completed in coming weeks, weather permitting.
Gladstone Regional Council’s roads team has been carrying out culvert remediation works for several weeks with the culvert expected to reopen about mid to late April.
Remediation works involve complete excavation of the middle section of the culvert so the steel pipes can be removed and replaced with reinforced concrete pipes. Surrounds will then be built up with work on batter stabilisation and roadway reconstruction.
As local catchments are subject to change at short notice, motorists are reminded to continually assess conditions, particularly after significant rain, and to drive with care.
After roadway repairs, the culvert will sustain light and heavy vehicles, returning the culvert to a safe standard for traffic.
Traffic conditions at this location however will change with the roadway to be reduced to single lane until a more permanent solution is designed and constructed.
Traffic controls and warning signs will be installed. Please note and obey these controls for the safety of all road users.
Affected residents can contact 4970 0700 if they have any further enquiries.
