Final days for ratepayers to take advantage of discount period
Gladstone Regional Council is reminding ratepayers that its 10 per cent discount period for 2020-21 rates notices will expire soon.
Ratepayers have until Monday, 19 October 2020 to pay their rates in full and be eligible to receive the 10 per cent discount.
This year, Council decided to freeze general rates and service charges in Rural, Residential, Commercial and Light Industrial land categories (Rating Categories 1-16), ensuring those ratepayers do not pay more in general rates or service charges than they did last year, while also extending the 10 per cent discount period from 30 to 60 days.
Other discounts include Council’s Pensioner Rate Subsidy Scheme, which provides a maximum concession of $300 for eligible pensioners, while the Queensland Government also provides a maximum subsidy of $200 per annum for eligible pensioners.
The rate notice includes the general rate levy, water and sewerage availability charges, half-yearly water consumption charge, waste bin charge and the Queensland Government’s Emergency Management Levy.
Council offers a variety of payment options including online via our Online Services portal, BPAY, mail and in person at Council offices or Australia Post.
Credit card payments for rates are not accepted at Australia Post.
Ratepayers who are unable to qualify for the 10 per cent discount by paying their rates in full are urged to contact Council on 4970 0700 by 19 October 2020 in order to arrange an interest-free instalment payment plan.
