Majority of public amenities to remain open with increased cleaning
Gladstone Regional Council wishes to advise the following public amenities will remain open with increased daily cleaning until further notice:
- Millennium Esplanade – middle public amenities block
- Canoe Point – disabled toilet only
- Wyndham Park
- Bray Park – disabled toilet only
- Bunting Park
- Apex Park
- Coon Street
- William Miskin Park
- Port Curtis cemetery
- Clinton sports grounds
- Gladstone cemetery
- 101 Goondoon Street
- Tom Jeffery Park
- Endeavour Park
- Alf Larson Lions Park
- Bororen
- Lowmead
- Turkey Beach.
Public amenities at the following locations will close:
- Barney Point Park
- Reg Tanna Park
- Memorial Park
- Bray Park – disabled toilet will remain open
- BITS Club sporting grounds
- Lions Park (Boyne Island)
- Millennium Esplanade – north and south toilet blocks
- Canoe Point wetlands
- Canoe Point – disabled toilet will remain open
- Garnet Park
- Captain Cook Lions Park
- Air Sea Rescue Park
- South End, The Oaks and Workman’s Beach Camp Ground toilets were closed earlier with camp ground closures.
Many of these amenities are located in or near areas which have already been closed down including: playgrounds, skate parks, pump tracks, outdoor fitness equipment and camping grounds.
The goal of these closures is to discourage non-essential gatherings, prevent vandalism or theft of Council property and to reduce workloads so Council staff can focus on delivering essential services to the community.
Residents are asked to please obey signage in place and do not enter any of these closed areas.
Council staff will not be undertaking routine safety inspections while these facilities are closed and therefore cannot guarantee the safety of residents who enter these areas.
