Timeline in place for reopening of Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is likely to reopen to all vehicle traffic from 11.55pm on Tuesday 3 September.
All current traffic detours for both light and heavy vehicles will remain in place until this time.
The affected section north of Bororen will initially open to single-lane traffic under contraflow conditions, with further damage assessments currently underway.
The decision to reopen the highway was finalised during the Gladstone Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) meeting this morning.
Drivers are strongly encouraged to exercise patience on the road once it reopens and to drive to the conditions.
Kerbside bin collection for residents living near the affected area may experience delays. Now that it is safe for residents to return to their properties, Council and emergency services are working with residents and property owners to understand the broader impacts from the incident.
