Green thumbs wanted to help grow community garden at new precinct
Council's Community & Neighbourhood Centre is seeking volunteer gardeners to help play a role in growing a community-led garden at the recently opened Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct.
As a Community Gardener you will learn and share gardening skills and join in the growth of a community-led garden project growing fruit and vegetables to harvest and share with anyone who needs fresh locally grown produce.
“The Gardeners will work as part of a team undertaking different gardening activities including weed removal and control, seedling propagation, watering and harvesting,” Gladstone Region Councillor Darryl Branthwaite said.
“We are looking for people who are friendly and approachable, and who are also able to build and maintain connections with our community and between the service providers located at the precinct.
“Applicants must have a valid Blue Card to work with children and the Gladstone Community and Neighbourhood Centre can assist in this process if needed.”
