Council operating hours during Christmas and New Year period
Gladstone Regional Council is advising residents of its venue and facility operating hours during the 2024 Christmas and New Year period.
Administration Offices, Depots and Rural Transaction Centres
- Phone enquiries will be taken 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on (07) 4970 0700
- Council’s Administration Offices and Rural Transaction Centres will shut from close of business (COB) on Tuesday, 24 December and resume normal hours on Thursday, 2 January 2025
- Depots will also close at COB on 24 December and reopen on 2 January, as per normal hours

Transfer Stations, Landfill and Waste
- Kerbside bin collection services will occur Monday to Friday as per usual schedule during the Christmas period
- Benaraby Landfill will operate on normal hours, except on Christmas Day where it will operate on reduced hours from 7.30am to 3pm
- All Transfer Stations will be closed on Christmas Day, but will operate as normal on Boxing Day and Public Holidays in December and January
- Tip Top Shop at Benaraby Landfill and Gladstone Transfer Station will close on 25-26 December.
Community Facilities
- Gladstone Regional Libraries will be closed from the end of normal business hours (as shown below) on Tuesday, 24 December 2024 and will reopen on Thursday, 2 January 2025
- Agnes Water – 9am to 5pm o Boyne Island – 9am to 5.30pm
- Calliope – 9am to 5pm
- Gladstone – 9am to 5.30pm
- Miriam Vale and Mount Larcom – 9am to 5pm
- The Precinct Library – 9am to 4.30pm
- Out & About Library van will resume normal service from Thursday, 2 January 202

- Philip Street Communities & Families Precinct will be closed from 4.30pm on Tuesday 24 December and will resume normal hours from Thursday, 2 January 2025.
- Animal Pound Facility will be closed on public holidays
- Impound releases by appointment only – phone Council on 4970 0700
- Registrations are to be completed online via GRC payment website prior to contacting Council to make an Impound Release Appointment
- Impound and sustenance fees will be payable at the pound via EFTPOS only, no cash
- Normal hours and processes will resume from Thursday, 2 January 2025
- Only one person per appointment is allowed in the pound
- Please bring your own restraints (leashes or cages/carriers) when you are collecting your animal.
- Tondoon Botanic Gardens is open every day (except Christmas Day) 7am-6pm
- Visitor Centre closed from Saturday 21 December and will reopen Monday, 6 January 2025

- Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum (GRAGM) will close at 4.30pm on Tuesday 24 December and will reopen at 10am on Thursday, 2 January 2025
- Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) and Box Office will close from 4.30pm on Friday 20 December and will resume normal hours from 9am Thursday, 2 January 2025
- Bookings and tickets to events can be made online via gladstoneentertainment.com

- Council’s Cemeteries will be available for vehicle and/or pedestrian access (depending on layout of facility) throughout the Christmas and New Year period
- The gates to Port Curtis Cemetery, Calliope Cemetery and Boyne Tannum Memorial Parklands will be open to vehicles and pedestrians between 8am-6pm on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
- Funeral services will be unavailable on 25-26 December and 1 January.
