Pet owners reminded about due date for animal registration
Animal owners can enjoy the early bird discount by paying their animals’ annual registration renewal fees by 31 October 2024.
From 1 November 2024, full fees will apply.
Pet owners must register and pay the annual renewal registration fee before the registration for the animal expires, regardless of whether a renewal notice is received.
Council also reminds pet owners that it is a Queensland Government requirement that dogs and cats, aged 12 weeks and over and born after April 2009 must be microchipped and their microchip details provided to Council.
Council will follow up on all registrations where the animal is not microchipped and born after April 2009, unless written evidence is provided from a veterinarian stating that microchipping would place the animal’s health at risk, or that the animal is a Council approved working dog.
Fines will apply if animals are not registered and microchipped.
A pensioner discount is available for pet owners that hold a current Centrelink Queensland Pensioner Concession Card, a Veteran Affairs Gold Card or a Veteran Affairs Pensioner Concession Card.
Please call Council or visit our website if you have further questions surrounding eligibility.
Gladstone Region Councillor Leanne Patrick encourages responsible pet ownership by being vigilant with registering your animal by the due date.
“Microchipping and registering your dog and cat ensure their contact details are kept up to date and improves their chances of being safely returned to you if they are lost or stolen,” Councillor Patrick said.
By default, your Animal Registration Renewal Notices will be issued via Australia Post to your mailbox if you are not registered for EzyBill.
For a paperless option, we encourage you to sign up to EzyBill and have notices delivered straight to your email inbox.
