Living Here
We look after our people, so they look after you
“We don’t run through your office; please don’t speed through ours!”
This is the message that Council wants motorists to remember while driving through roadworks.
Recently, Council installed speed indicators in work zones, revealing an alarming average speed of 52km/h in 40km/h zones.
Council asks that motorists pay attention to site signage indicating work zones and the enforceable speed limits within them.
Speeding through work zones not only jeopardises the lives of Council workers but also poses a risk to other motorists and pedestrians.
As we commence a $103.5M key service spend on roads, bridges, footpaths, and drainage for 2023/24, motorists may encounter more work zones than in previous years.
It takes just a moment of distraction or recklessness for a life-altering accident to occur.
By remaining attentive, obeying speed limits, and exercising caution in work zones, we can protect the lives of all road users and Council workers to ensure their safe return home to their loved ones each night.
