Community invited to participate in vegetation planting at Turkey Beach
Gladstone Regional Council is inviting Turkey Beach residents and surrounding communities to participate in a planting event on Tuesday 2 May.
Gladstone Region Councillor Darryl Branthwaite said the event will involve the planting of native beach vines and grasses along the Turkey Beach foreshore.
“Planting this vegetation will assist in stabilising the sand and protecting the shore from coastal erosion,” Councillor Branthwaite said.
“It also forms a key action of Gladstone Regional Council’s Turkey Beach Shoreline Erosion Management Plan.
“Council will supply the plants, planting equipment, gloves and morning tea – just bring closed-in shoes, sun safe clothing, a hat and water bottle.”
