Come together on Neighbour Day to ‘Create Belonging’ in our community
Neighbour Day is fast approaching and there is no better way to celebrate it than at Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct.
Gladstone Neighbourhood Centre, Relationships Australia Queensland and The Salvation Army are encouraging neighbours to become good friends by connecting over a free community barbecue, all while learning about the services on offer at the Precinct.
The free community barbecue will be held on Wednesday 29 March from 9am until 1pm, thanks to The Salvation Army.
Gladstone Region Councillor Natalia Muszkat said Neighbour Day is Australia’s annual celebration of community that encourages people to connect with their neighbours.
“This is an excellent opportunity for all precinct partners to share information about the wonderful work that is happening here on site and the services available to the community,” Councillor Muszkat said.
Cr Muszkat said the theme for Neighbour Day 2023 is ‘Create Belonging’.
“Belonging is the sense of safety and comfort you feel when you are accepted for who you are. It is more than inclusion, it’s an authentic acceptance and a state of feeling both connected and supported,” she said.
“Gladstone Regional Council is proud to support this annual celebration which encourages community connectedness and that supports engaged, involved and proud communities.”
