Turn ideas into action at the Gladstone Region’s inaugural Youth Summit
Are you ready to turn ideas into action? Gladstone Regional Council is calling on young people aged 15 to 25 to have their say and make change in the Gladstone Region.
The Gladstone Region Youth Summit is an interactive workshop where young people are encouraged to speak up on issues that are important to them.
Young people are often left out of important conversations and decision making that directly affects them and Council is committed to partnering with our young people to ensure they are fairly represented in our community.
The Gladstone Region Youth Summit will be held from 10am to 2pm on the upcoming Pupil Free Day, Friday 2 September, at the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the Gladstone Region Youth Summit is different to any other event.
“This is for youth, led by youth, and delivered by youth,” Councillor Burnett said. “Key issues to be discussed include environment, mental health, education, employment and social issues, and these issues will form a report to advocate on behalf of young people to key decision makers in the Gladstone region.
“The Youth Summit is also about developing potential future leaders and creating conditions that enable young people to advocate for issues and matters they are passionate about.
“There’s also some fantastic prizes to be won so make sure to RSVP by Sunday 28 August.”
Attendees go into the draw to win a Mearth RS Series Electric Scooter as well as plenty of other great prizes to be drawn on the day.
Bring a friend along for a fun day with great prizes, free food and entertainment and a chance to help shape your community!
