Expressions of Interest sought for Youth Representative on Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct Advisory Committee
Council and partners are calling for community members aged 18 – 25 to have their say and bring a youth voice to the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct Advisory Committee.
The Advisory Committee supports the precinct’s progress and initiatives to achieve Council’s vision of it being a vibrant and evolving space that strengthens and enhances community wellbeing.
The youth representative will provide Council with advice on strategic planning, management and collaborative operations for the Phillip Street Communities and Families Precinct, by focussing on:
- The precinct service mix
- Opportunities to offer services in the precinct to assist in improving the community’s physical and mental wellbeing and health literacy
- Proposals for the precinct to create opportunities for lifelong learning and to assist children and young people and their families to transition through learning stages
- The precinct’s performance on creating a sense of community connectedness, access to current information and opportunities to build social and cultural capacity.
The Expression of Interest period opens today (4 January) and closes at 5pm on Thursday, 20 January 2022. Interviews will take place on Friday 28 January.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Kahn Goodluck said an individual may represent more than one of the above sectors of the community.
“Council and partners of the Philip Street Communities and Families Precinct would love to see young people put their hand up who have a keen interest and passion in developing a space for all and promoting positive community wellbeing and interactions,” Councillor Goodluck said.
“Appointments to the committee may be for a period of 12, 24, 30 or 36 months or as otherwise determined by Council.
“Those expressing an interest should advise of their availability in terms of the tenure periods.”
Council’s representation on the Advisory Committee consists of a Councillor and GRC representative, while The Salvation Army and Gladstone Area Promotion and Development Limited (GAPDL) also have representation.
