Gladstone Aquatic Centre to temporarily close for electrical upgrade
Gladstone Regional Council advises that Gladstone Aquatic Centre will be closed from 7-13 December for major electrical work as part of the facility’s $1.3m upgrade.
Council and facility managers BlueFit, have taken a staged approach to this upgrade in order to minimise the impact on pool users.
Upgrades are well underway at the facility with FINA-approved starting blocks recently installed at the 50m pool.
Further upgrades will take place in the new year including renewal of the aquatic play park, amenities upgrades including appropriate disabled change facilities, new external boundary fencing and filtration plant upgrade.
Most of the upgrades are due to be completed by June 2021, with building renewal work that will continue up until the end of 2021.
Gladstone Aquatic Centre upgrades are supported by Queensland Government through the COVID Works for Queensland program.
