Gladstone Regional Council backs decision to purchase Mater Hospital
Gladstone Regional Council (GRC) is pleased to hear today’s announcement by Health Minister Steven Miles of the Queensland Government’s intention to purchase the Gladstone Mater Hospital.
Mr Miles outlined the Queensland Government’s proposal that would allow Gladstone Mater Hospital to act as a dedicated COVID-19 facility should an outbreak take place in the region.
GRC hopes this announcement is a further step in improving overall health services and facilitie in the Gladstone Region, further limiting the need for residents to travel to other regions in order to access high-quality health care.
Council will continue to advocate for further construction and expansion of health facilities and services within the region, working with both the Queensland and Australian Governments.
