Summer reminder to register for RegionWatch warnings and stay up to date

The Gladstone Region has already experienced bushfires this year and with summer just around the corner, residents are being reminded about the handy features offered via RegionWatch.

The upcoming summer months, combined with an El Nino declaration that is likely to remain until autumn 2024, mean there will be an increased risk of natural disasters during this time.

To stay informed during summer, residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the RegionWatch dashboard and the features it offers.

- Evacuation Zones/Flooding Levels

Gladstone Region Deputy Mayor Kahn Goodluck said RegionWatch users can also register for warnings to be better prepared and protected for emergencies and disasters.

“Residents who use RegionWatch can opt to receive warnings via email, SMS or both. This is a free service with warning SMS and emails delivered by Gladstone Regional Council,” Cr Goodluck said.

Visit https://regionwatch.gladstone.qld.gov.au to access the RegionWatch dashboard and to register for warnings.

Residents are also encouraged to familiarise themselves with the new Australian Warning System (AWS) for bushfires that came into effect from 1 November 2023.
