Gladstone Regional Council has welcomed a funding commitment from the Federal Member for Flynn to fully fund the proposed $5 million Gladstone Airport Patient Transfer Facility if the Liberal National Party is elected at the upcoming Federal Election.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the proposed facility would improve operational efficiency and give patients and their families greater dignity and comfort in their time of need.
“Council has been advocating for improved health outcomes in our region for many years and the construction of the Gladstone Airport Patient Transfer Facility has been identified by Gladstone Airport as a top priority,” Councillor Burnett said.
“The proposed Patient Transfer Facility is backed by the community and supported by Council.
“This another great example of Council working with all levels of government and funding bodies to support major projects, which means better outcomes for our communities.”
Cr Burnett said the funding announcement is a positive step forward for the project.
“Our thanks go to Colin Boyce, Federal Member for Flynn, for committing to fully fund this project, and I strongly encourage all political parties and their leaders to match this commitment.”
