Council is calling on the state to play their part ahead of election
Gladstone Regional Council has identified eight priorities and is asking all candidates in the upcoming Queensland state election to play their part in growing the Gladstone Region.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said Council is passionate about advocating for a brighter future for the entire region and we want the state to help us fund and fill the gaps.
“To fund the gaps, we’re seeking a commitment of $200 million to meet the region’s infrastructure needs, now and into the future, and we also want the state’s support to fill the gaps in vital areas such as health, housing and waste,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Our region contributes a lot to the state, so we want their assistance to enable infrastructure and prosperity for our region through engagement and/or investment in our priorities.”
Cr Burnett said the Gladstone Region is well positioned for continued growth.
“Our region is already home to more than 65,000 people, supports almost 28,000 jobs and has an economic output of $20.535 billion,” he said.
“Advocating for our eight priorities will help drive our region forward ensuring it remains a fantastic place to live, work, invest and play.”
