Gladstone Region Show Public Holiday dates locked in until 2028
Gladstone Regional Council has nominated the following dates as the show holiday for the Gladstone local government area in 2025, 2026, 2027 and 2028.
- Monday, 11 August 2025
- Monday, 10 August 2026
- Monday, 9 August 2027
- Monday, 14 August 2028.
This year’s Gladstone Region Show Public Holiday will take place on Monday 12 August, aligning with the Royal Queensland Show (Ekka) that is being held from 10-18 August 2024.
The above dates also align with the region’s preference to see their public holiday fall either side of a weekend, as indicated in a 2018 community survey where 75 per cent of participants indicted this as their preferred option.
Prior to 2019, the Gladstone Region Show Public Holiday fell on a Wednesday.
GRC offices, Rural Transaction Centres, Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, Gladstone Regional Libraries, Gladstone Community and Neighbourhood Centre and Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) (including Box Office) will be closed, reopening on Tuesday 13 August.
Tondoon Botanic Gardens, Benaraby Landfill and waste transfer stations will remain open.
Bin collection will take place as per a normal Monday.
Residents will still be able to access all of Council’s online services, including the GECC website.
