Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said works to replace ageing infrastructure would be carried out from Monday (26 August) through to the end of October in Barney Point, Benaraby, Boyne Island, Boyne Valley, Byellee, Callemondah, Calliope, Clinton, East End, Gladstone, Glen Eden, Iveragh, Kin Kora, Kirkwood, Mount Larcom, New Auckland, South Gladstone, Sun Valley, Tannum Sands, Telina, Toolooa and West Gladstone.

“Properties in these areas have water meters of varying ages which record the individual water usage of the respective property,” Councillor Burnett said.

“The measurement accuracy of these assets often declines with age, leading to the need for Council to replace them at appropriate intervals to be able to capture accurate water usage data.”

Cr Burnett said the replacement program targeted properties with water meters which were more than 10 years old. “Residents in these areas could experience temporary water interruptions for a short period of time in the coming months,” he said.

“These works will be carried out at reasonable times during the day and residents should be aware that workers, who are required to display an identification badge, will only access property to carry out the water replacement program.”

Residents are reminded it is recommended that after your water meter has been changed (or you have received a calling card notifying you of the change) you need to run taps until the water runs clear and free.
