Make your morning one to remember at one of five shows in 2024
Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) is proud to unveil the ultimate line up of daytime entertainment as Morning Melodies returns in 2024.
The season begins on Tuesday 20 February with Remember the days of Cat Stevens starring Darren Coggan.
Wind back the clock with songs including Moonshadow, Wild World, Peace Train, Father and Son and so many more as you relive the voice of a generation in celebration of one of the most inspiring singer song writers of time.
Fast forward to Tuesday 2 July and the performance of From Campfire to Stage Light details an epic journey toward self-determination and Indigenous pride, as told through the life experience of David Bindi Hudson, well-known and loved cultural leader and global ambassador for Indigenous Australia.
This play, directed by nationally recognised First Nations Director, Isaac Drandic, with music and lyrics by Nereace, Nigel Pegrum and David Bindi Hudson, will take the audience on a culturally rich journey of Far North Queensland and the world.
Melinda Schneider returns to the stage on Tuesday 3 September to pay tribute to the legendary Doris Day.
A Farewell To Doris, is a heartfelt tribute to Doris Day including timeless hits such as Que Sera Sera, Sentimental Journey, Everybody Loves a Lover and Secret Love plus classic songs from the movies Calamity Jane, Love Me or Leave Me and The Pajama Game.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said October’s free Seniors Month show, Blue Bayou, will pay tribute to the great country-pop artists of the 1960s and 70s.
“A free Morning Melodies show will be performed on Tuesday 15 October to celebrate Seniors Month,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Blue Bayou will take audiences on a musical journey paying tribute to the great country-pop artists of the era including songs by Glen Campbell, Bobby Gentry, Anne Murray, Linda Ronstadt, John Denver, Dolly Parton, Oliva Newton-John, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and more.”
The final Morning Melodies show of 2024 will pay tribute to Bing Crosby and The Andrews Sisters.
The Andrews & Bing Christmas Swing is a joyful, melodious Christmas show offering audiences a stroll down memory lane with beautiful 1940’s bright and engaging Christmas songs.
