Gladstone Region pensioners may be eligible for rate subsidy
Property owners in the Gladstone region who live at their property and have just become eligible for the pension are encouraged to apply now for GRC’s 2019/20 Pensioner Rate Subsidy Scheme.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said Council’s pension remission scheme provided a rebate of 50 per cent of the general rate to a maximum of $295 to pensioners who were eligible for the Queensland Government Pension Rebate.
The Queensland State Government subsidy grants a remission of 20 per cent of all rates and charges (excluding water consumption) to a maximum of $200 per year for the pensioner’s principal place of residence.
Councillor Burnett said to be eligible for both benefits, a person must have a Centrelink Queensland Pensioners Concession Card, a Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card (All conditions) or a Veterans’ Affairs Pensioner Concession Card and live in an approved place of residence which complies with Standard Building Law.
