Improvements made to popular boat ramp servicing Baffle Creek
Boaties will notice some changes at Flat Rock Picnic Grounds when they next go fishing following upgrades to the public boat ramp servicing Baffle Creek.
Works to upgrade the boat ramp were completed earlier this month, with an extension to both sides of the ramp and other improvements taking place, including:
- Improved scour protection to sides of the ramp (with moderate-sized rock armour)
- Improved side accessibility, making it easier to pull boats up and walk on safely
- Installation of ramp anchor points for boats to be tied to temporarily while vehicles are parked or retrieved
- Altering drainage from the existing carpark to direct water on to the bank armour instead of down the boat ramp.
Gladstone Region Deputy Mayor Kahn Goodluck said the $68,000 boat ramp upgrade project is one of many upgrades and safety improvements being made to Council’s assets and infrastructure.
“These upgrades will improve useability and safety of the boat ramp for our community and visitors to our region, Councillor Goodluck said.
“Baffle Creek is a spectacular waterway and we know this boat ramp is widely used by members of the public for recreational fishing and boating, so I’m looking forward to seeing the upgraded ramp being enjoyed by the public.
“This was another Council project delivered on time and under budget.”
The Flat Rock Picnic Grounds (Public Boat Ramp Upgrade) Project was supported by the Queensland Government Department of Agriculture and Fisheries’ Fishing Infrastructure Grants Program and Gladstone Regional Council.
