Council seeking tenders for significant roads and civil infrastructure program
Gladstone Regional Council has released an invitation to tender for suitably qualified contractors to deliver various projects across our roads and civil infrastructure.
Council is planning to deliver approximately $56M in roads and civil infrastructure projects during 2023/24, with approximately $34M coming from the joint Commonwealth and State Government funding for Disaster Recovery.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said this portfolio of works represents a significant increase in road projects compared to 2022/23 and is calling on contractors to tender for a variety of roads and civil infrastructure projects.
“The types of projects we’re looking to undertake include pavement renewals, asphalt overlays, bitumen reseals, gravel resheets, traffic calming schemes, safety improvements and sealed and unsealed road damage repairs,” Councillor Burnett said.
“We are grateful to receive significant external funding from the Queensland Government to upgrade and improve our roads, however, with many deadlines related to funding for these projects, there is no leeway for these projects to carry over into future years.
“This is why we are tendering all of our roads projects at the same time, as bundling them ahead of time will offer greater scheduling efficiencies, allow for a greater response to the tender and increase the likelihood of projects being delivered on time.”
Cr Burnett added that successful contractors will assist Council’s Roads Program Delivery team, who have been consulted in advance of these procurement changes.
“Crews have been consulted and will play an important role in determining which projects will continue to be delivered internally,” he said.
The tender opened on Saturday 6 May 2023 on VendorPanel and closes on 30 May 2023.
Approval of contracts will take place in early August.
