Exhibition highlights Gladstone’s Sister City relationship with Saiki City
The annual photo exchange between Gladstone and Japan’s Saiki City will soon go on display at GRAGM, offering patrons a glimpse of the lifestyle, people and environment of the two Sister Cities.
Intercity Images Combined Exhibition 2022 will be on display from 5 August until 3 September in GRAGM’s Front Gallery and will feature a joint display of Japanese and Australian photographs by Saiki City and Gladstone Region residents.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the image submission period for Gladstone Region residents took place between January and March this year.
“All eligible entries were put on display at GRAGM between April and May,” Councillor Burnett said. “30 images were selected that best represented the Gladstone Region lifestyle and were sent to Saiki City, Japan for display.
“This Intercity Images Combined Exhibition 2022 features those 30 selected images alongside selected images from Saiki.
“Each year we see an increase in the photography skills on display as residents aim to capture images representing Central Queensland’s lifestyle, its people and the environment.”
Now in its 20th year, Intercity Images is a Gladstone Saiki Sister City Advisory Committee initiative, supported by Gladstone Regional Council.
