Council to host information session on waste levy for commercial businesses
Gladstone Regional Council will host an information session for commercial operators and local businesses who would be impacted by the Queensland Government’s waste levy.
Members of the public are invited to come along to the information session to better understand what the levy means for them and how they can minimise their businesses impact on the environment.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Chris Trevor said the session will cover the levy’s impact to businesses, tips on how to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and the fees and charges they will experience at local waste facilities.
“Businesses are encouraged to look at how they can reduce waste, separate waste streams and recycle more to help reduce waste disposal costs,” Councillor Trevor said.
“Not only will being more conscious about waste reduce our impact on the environment, it will also help businesses decrease their potential levy fees.”
The information session will be held from 4.30pm to 6.00 pm on Thursday 18 July at the Community Engagement Centre, 142 Goondoon Street, Gladstone.
