Immerse yourself in nature at CQ’s largest environment awareness event
It’s back! Central Queensland’s largest environmental awareness event, Ecofest, returns next month.
Held at Gladstone’s Tondoon Botanic Gardens in conjunction with World Environment Day, Ecofest promises to offer something for the whole family.
Enjoy a fun family day out from 9am-3pm on Sunday 5 June with kids’ activities, educational workshops from leaders in gardening and sustainability, as well as eco-market stalls, plant sales, food trucks, live music, guest speakers and much more.
Gladstone Region Councillor and Ecofest MC, Desley O’Grady said Ecofest aims to encourage and empower us to make a change towards living greener, more sustainably and making choices to take care of the planet.
“Ecofest brings educational and informative workshops, demonstrations, activities and entertainment to our community in the natural space of award-winning Tondoon Botanic Gardens,” Councillor O’Grady said.
“Adding to this, it is encouraging to know that every business, group or individual who is a part of Ecofest has committed to make a change towards a sustainable future and demonstrate how they are mindful of their consumption.”
Cr O’Grady said this year’s theme is ‘Only one Earth’.
“This reminds us that there are no second chances when it comes to preserving and protecting our planet,” Cr O’Grady said.
“Preserving and protecting the planet starts at home and here in the Gladstone Region we are fortunate to be the gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef and have other natural wonders we must take care of including rainforests, wetlands, coastlines and conservation areas.”
