2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball raises more than $100,000
The 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball has been hailed as another tremendous success with more than $100,000 raised for four local beneficiaries.
The funds raised at the 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball will be split evenly between Gladstone Mindcare, Nhulundu Health Service, Roseberry Qld and The Zonta Club of Gladstone.
Almost 450 people attended the 29 May event at Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre, enjoying the ‘Starry Night’ theme while being entertained by live and silent auctions, games and headline act The Hamilton Band, who were supported by local musicians Leanne Brooker and Clare Evans.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said he was hopeful that a significant amount of money would be raised from the 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball once he heard tickets had sold out within an hour.
“It’s my pleasure to announce that $101,564.60 was raised at the 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball, which far exceeded expectations,” Councillor Burnett said.
“If you add that figure onto the $391,801 we’ve already raised across four previous events since 2013, we’re looking at close to half a million dollars ($493,366.41) raised for local beneficiaries during that time, which is just fantastic.
“The night was another great success and helped raise vital funds for four very worthy local beneficiaries – Gladstone Mindcare, Nhulundu Health Service, Roseberry Qld and The Zonta Club of Gladstone.
“It was encouraging to see tickets sell out so quickly and that enthusiasm continued on the night itself with many people digging deep to support the beneficiaries.
“Of course, events like this are not made possible without the generous support of sponsors and supporters, especially Santos GLNG who have been on this journey since the beginning.
“Thank you to all Platinum, Diamond, Gold and Silver sponsors, and all other supporters who also contributed on the night.”
Cr Burnett also thanked Council’s Events Team for organising the 2021 Santos GLNG Mayor’s Charity Ball and said he looked forward to seeing each of the four beneficiaries use their raised funds to benefit the community.
“All four beneficiaries provide invaluable services to our community, and funds raised will ensure they can continue to build empowered, resilient communities within our region,” he said.
“These services include; working to advance the status of women locally and worldwide (The Zonta Club of Gladstone), providing information and support for mental health, alcohol and other drug challenges to the Gladstone community (Gladstone Mindcare), supporting young people and families who are experiencing difficulty (Roseberry Qld) and making a positive difference in the lives of Indigenous community members (Nhulundu Health Service).”
