Council supports International Access to Information Day
Gladstone Regional Council has signed up as a supporter of this year’s International Access to Information Day (IAI Day) which takes place on 28 September.
The theme of this year’s IAI Day is ‘Open by design: government transparency everyone can see’ and promotes the value of proactively releasing information particularly in times of crisis and recovery.
Central Queenslanders, like the rest of Australia and the world, have faced significant challenges in recent times. Access to timely and relevant information helps individuals and the community to stay informed of the situation and make health, safety and financial decisions.
Our Council supports a culture of openness, transparency and accountability and we are committed to improving access to information consistent with the Right to Information Act 2009 and the Information Privacy Act 2009.
IAI Day is a timely opportunity to raise awareness about information access rights and how greater openness builds trust between government and the community.
