Community facility will soon be available to hire again following renovation works
The Castletower Building, a popular community facility located adjacent to the BTCC, will be available for hire again from Tuesday, 6 April following the completion of renovations works.
The works are one of nine projects to receive funding as part of the Queensland Government’s COVID Works for Queensland program.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said Gladstone Regional Council received $5.2m to fund the nine projects, with $260,000 allocated to undertake the Castletower renovation works.
“Renovation works at the Castletower Building involved the complete replacement of two building verandas,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Work on the verandas was needed as they had become tired and worn, with a risk they could deteriorate to the point where they would be unsafe to access.
“Construction work, undertaken by Gladstone company Youngs Building Contractors, is due for completion by the first week in April.”
The Castletower Building was named after Castle Tower National Park, located within the Boyne Valley.
