Dolphins and Capras locked in for Marley Brown Oval rematch
Get your ‘Phins Up Gladstone as the NRL Dolphins are set to return to the Port City for a highly anticipated rematch against the Central Queensland Capras in February.
The CQ Capras will tackle the Dolphins at Gladstone Coal Exporters Sports Complex (Marley Brown Oval) on Saturday 8 February kicking off at 6pm.
Mayor Matt Burnett is excited to welcome both teams back to Gladstone following a very successful visit prior to the Dolphins inaugural NRL season in 2023.
“History was made in Gladstone in February 2023 when our region hosted the Dolphins first NRL trial match,” Mayor Burnett said.
“We saw Dolphins players wear the red, white and gold jersey for the first time, engage with a new Central Queensland fan base, conduct junior coaching clinics and bond together as a team ahead of what was an exciting first NRL season.
“Gladstone is proud to play its part in Dolphins’ history and I look forward seeing Marley Brown Oval go Phins Up in February.”
Quotes from Terry Reader, CEO of the Dolphins NRL team:
“The Dolphins are very happy to be heading back to play in Gladstone because the Central Queensland area is vitally important to us, and we hope the work our club is doing in the region makes people feel like we are CQ's NRL team.
“It is also fitting that we begin a new era under our new head coach Kristian Woolf in the same Queensland town that the Dolphins played their first ever trial game back in 2023.”
Quotes from Peter White, CEO of the Central Queensland Capras:
“The Capras are really excited to host the Dolphins in a preseason NRL trial match at Marley Brown Oval.
“We really appreciate the support of Gladstone Regional Council in partnering with us, by presenting the event to the wider Central Queensland region.”
