Planning Scheme set for amendments as Council adopts review report
Gladstone Regional Council has completed its 10-yearly review of the Gladstone Region Planning Scheme Our Place Our Plan and adopted a review report at its General Meeting today (17 September 2024).
The Gladstone Region Planning Scheme provides Council with framework for the management and assessment of land development throughout the region.
Council resolved to strengthen the existing scheme by making a series of major amendments to it.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said it is crucial that the 10-yearly review of the Planning Scheme is carried out to ensure the scheme reflects community values as they grow and change over time.
“Reviewing and making amendments to the Planning Scheme takes time and it’s important to note that no amendments have been made yet,” Councillor Burnett said.
“To make sure that any amendments made are properly considered, the next step in this process is for our Planning Team to put together an amendment list recommendation for review in a General Meeting.
“We will continue to engage with the community throughout this process to ensure that the region’s values are kept at the forefront of our decision making.”
