Learn how to make a difference to your environment at Ecofest 2024
It’s back! CQ’s largest environmental awareness event returns for another year of educational and informative workshops, demonstrations, activities and entertainment within the Tondoon Botanic Gardens
Ecofest will be held from 9am-3pm on Sunday 2 June and will also feature plant sales, food trucks, live music, guest speakers and much more.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Natalia Muszkat said Ecofest is centred around World Environment Day and its 2024 theme of ‘Land restoration, desertification and drought resilience’.
“This year we are highlighting the World Environment Day theme and how it relates to our region,” Councillor Muszkat said.
“Taking care of our environment starts in our own backyard, so by being informed of the best and most up-to-date sustainable practices helps us make the right choices to care for the planet.”
Cr Muszkat added that every business, group or individual who is a part of Ecofest has committed to making a change towards a sustainable future and to demonstrate how they are mindful of their environmental footprint.
“This is really refreshing to hear as it shows that if you talk the talk, you must walk the walk when it comes to your impact on the environment,” she said.
“If everyone who attends Ecofest can leave and go about making small changes that contribute towards a sustainable future, then we are well and truly on the right track.
“However, if you don’t go you won’t know, so we’ll see you at Tondoon on the first Sunday in June.”
