Spend your Easter in Gladstone – You’ll be glad you did!
Just over two weeks remain until Gladstone comes alive at Easter with harbourside celebrations centred around the iconic Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race and Gladstone Harbour Festival.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said some of the most significant events on the Gladstone Region calendar are held across the Easter long weekend.
“Whether you are attending the Gladstone Harbour Festival, lining the banks of Gladstone Harbour to welcome in the fleet from the Gladstone Ports Corporation 76th Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race or attending events within the Brisbane to Gladstone (B2G) Village, there is no shortage of things to do at Easter in Gladstone,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Festivities within the B2G Village begin from 5pm on Thursday 28 March with the Village Opening Party and extend through until late on Easter Sunday with the Line Crossing Party.
“The race itself begins from Shorncliffe at 11am on Good Friday with live stream coverage of the race beginning from 10am and running through until noon.
“Live stream coverage of the race will occur via the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race Facebook page, Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race website and on Kayo Sports via Kayo Freebies.”
The race start will also be shown on the big screen at Gladstone Harbour Festival and East Shores.
Coinciding with the race start is the Yachtsman’s Long Lunch, a ticketed event featuring delicious local seafood, award-winning wines, keynote speakers and live music, all while watching the famous race on the big screen.
Easter Saturday will feature the all-day Seafood Festival and two-hour Harbour Cruise Brunch, while the Gladstone Yacht Club will have live music playing from 3pm onwards on both Saturday and Sunday.
Other Easter in Gladstone events include the annual Gladstone Harbour Festival featuring free entertainment, thrilling rides, all the fun of sideshow alley, free activities for the kids, spectacular fireworks displays and much more.
The Gladstone Road Runners Fun Run and Gladstone Harbour Festival’s Raft Regatta will take place on Good Friday.
Cr Burnett said the Easter in Gladstone website has various accommodation deals and packages on offer for those attending from outside the region.
“Easter in Gladstone is unlike any other time of the year, so why not stay for the long weekend and explore all that our region has to offer – you’ll be glad you did.”
