Mount Larcom Swimming Pool to reopen from tomorrow
Gladstone Regional Council is pleased to advise that Mount Larcom Swimming Pool will reopen for community use from Friday 1 December.
The pool was previously closed as it had reached the end of its useful life, however, following meetings with the community and local schools, Council has listened to feedback and concerns regarding the pool’s closure.
Gladstone Mayor Matt Burnett said Council officers were able to enact a temporary solution that has allowed the existing pool to reopen while designs on a replacement are prepared.
“These works allow Mount Larcom Swimming Pool to reopen while meeting current national standard and health guidelines,” Councillor Burnett said.
“The gates to the pool will reopen from 11am on Friday and will operate five days per week, closing on Mondays and Tuesdays.
“The facility will remain open until 31 March 2024 as per its usual seasonal operating model.”
Cr Burnett added that Council will host a sausage sizzle and information stall on Friday 8 December from 3-5pm to celebrate the reopening of Mount Larcom Swimming Pool.
“Council officers will share the results of our recent community engagement and what you’d like to see in a replacement pool, while the sausage sizzle will help raise funds for the Mount Larcom RSL Sub Branch,” he said.
“I am looking forward to seeing Mount Larcom Swimming Pool being enjoyed by the community once again.”
