Statement regarding Cryptosporidium cluster
Gladstone Regional Council’s Aquatic Centre operators, BlueFit, has been in contact with the Queensland Public Health Unit regarding a reported Cryptosporidium cluster within the Gladstone Region.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the risk level at Gladstone Aquatic Centre is considered low.
“This is due to BlueFit’s proactive superchlorination program and secondary disinfectant (UV) systems at Council's aquatic centres,” Councillor Burnett said.
“There is a number of processes in place at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre to ensure the safety of our public aquatic facilities.
“The water is regularly tested to ensure it meets the Queensland Health water quality guidelines for public aquatic facilities and is safe for the local community.”
