Footpath construction to expand walking and cycling options at Tannum
Gladstone Regional Council and the Queensland Government are jointly funding the construction of a shared footpath along Hampton Drive at Tannum Sands.
Beginning from 21 August, Council will construct a new footpath along the south side road verge of Hampton Drive connecting the existing footpath from Langdon Street to tie into the existing footpath that ends at Reef Adventureland Motor Inn (64 Hampton Drive).
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said the new concrete footpath will stretch 560m x 2m, making it wider than the existing footpath on the south side of Hampton Drive.
“Currently there is no existing footpath along this side of the road, so construction of a footpath on the south side of Hampton Drive will allow for more people to use walking and cycling as a valid form of transport and exercise,” Councillor Burnett said.
“It’s fantastic to receive a $211,500 joint funding contribution from the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program to construct this footpath and I look forward to seeing it enjoyed by many people in the years ahead.”
Works will occur between Monday to Friday, 7am-5pm, with some noise, dust and vibration expected to be generated from the project site.
Some pedestrian, driveway and traffic disruptions will occur at times.
Affected residents have been notified in advance of these works.
The Hampton Drive, Langdon St to Garnet Rd, Construct Shared Path project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program 2022-2023.
