Development Application approved for Boyne Tannum Aquatic Recreation Centre
Progress towards the construction of the Boyne Tannum Aquatic Recreation Centre (BTARC) has taken another step forward with Council approving a development application for the site.
The Development Application (DA/81/2022) for a Material Change of Use of Premises for an Outdoor Sport and Recreation (Aquatic Centre) at Lot 900 Coronation Drive, Tannum Sands was endorsed at Council’s 21 March general meeting.
Gladstone Region Deputy Mayor Kahn Goodluck said an independent organisation prepared the development application on behalf of Council.
“Council is now focusing on progressing with Detailed Design for the project,” Councillor Goodluck said.
“Council has also received its invitation to submit to Australian Government’s Priority Community Infrastructure Program to secure the $15M Australian Labor Government 2022 Election Commitment made towards the BTARC project.
“However, Council will still need to explore further avenues of external funding for the project before shovels hit the ground, and we are actively doing this.”
