Council’s Australia Day Family Fun Day to be held at exciting new location
Gladstone Regional Council will proudly host its free Australia Day Family Fun Day at Gladstone Ports Corporation’s East Shores precinct on Thursday 26 January.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said East Shores will come alive with entertainment and activities suitable for the whole family.
“Harbourside festivities kick off at 10am until 1pm and include live music, Aussie-themed activities, free face painting, food vendors and a free sausage sizzle,” Councillor Burnett said.
“The Australia Day Family Fun Day is open to all community members and celebrates contemporary Australia while acknowledging and respecting our First Nations people.
“It is also exciting to host this year’s Australia Day Family Fun Day at East Shores, an award-winning precinct that includes the always popular water play park, a waterfront boardwalk, viewing platforms, barbecues and plenty of open space to relax with family and friends.”
Council’s Australia Day Family Fun Day also includes the announcement of winners from this year’s Celebrate Australia Primary School Art Competition.
Cr Burnett is encouraging residents who cannot attend East Shores to head along to other Australia Day events taking place across the region.
“The Turkey Beach Progress Association and Rosedale Hotel will host Australia Day breakfasts, both starting from 7am, while the Builyan Many Peaks Community Development Association will host an Australia Day breakfast beginning from 8am at Builyan Hall,” he said.
