Gladstone Region community activities heat up during Winter months
It’s officially Winter and despite some cooler weather, the Gladstone Region is heating up, with plenty of Council-planned and supported community activities on offer in coming months.
Gladstone Region Acting Mayor Chris Trevor said there would be plenty for residents and visitors to see and do in June, July and August.
“Tomorrow (4 June) Live at Library Square will help take the chill out of your day with free entertainment coinciding with the Feast on East Markets and visit by cruise liner passengers aboard the Pacific Explorer,” Councillor Trevor said.
Lead singer of Gladstone-based band, The Easy Tigers, Phil Mcintyre will perform on the Library Square stage tomorrow from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
“This is great weather to head outdoors and enjoy lunch in Library Square listening to the relaxing sounds of a local performer,” Cr Trevor said.
“Council is also pleased to support various community events in coming months, such as the Gladstone Show on this Friday and Saturday (7 and 8 June), the Mount Larcom & District Show on 22 and 23 June and Queensland Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony under the Stars on 2 August.”
In addition, Council will soon launch its Winter Events Guide detailing exciting events for all ages across the Gladstone Region.
“An Events Guide publication has been released for each season this year and has proven extremely popular within the community,” Cr Trevor said.
“There is something for everyone with residents and visitors able to keep track of what Council events are on offer and enjoy movies in the park, discover new art exhibitions, attend a workshop, or take in a live show.”
Council will present its stunning, lighting spectacular event, Luminous, at Gladstone Tondoon Botanic Gardens from 5.30pm to 9pm on 13-14 July.
“All ages are catered for with focus on our senior residents from 17-25 August who will have access to a range of activities and events across our region in celebration of Seniors Week,” Cr Trevor said.
Council’s Winter Events Guide will be available soon either online via Gladstone Regional Council’s Facebook page or website, or as a printed edition from Council offices.
