Popular youth festival to offer something for everyone in 2021
Tickets to the popular Festival of Summer youth event go on sale from 9am today with a week-long program of activities on offer during January 2021.
Following the success of the inaugural Festival of Summer earlier this year, the event specially designed for 11 to 17-year-olds will run from 10-15 January.
Festival of Summer includes three signature youth-inspired events – an Opening Festival, Days of Summer activities and Festival of Summer Sounds concert to wrap up the week.
A free Opening Festival will be held at Gladstone Aquatic Centre on Sunday, 10 January from 1pm-4pm.
The venue will come alive with live music, an inflatable water course and food options to suit the entire family. The Opening Festival is open to all ages.
Days of Summer activities include full days of fun, exploring the region and enjoying activities for all areas of interest from outdoor activities to adventure, fashion, photography, film, adrenaline and much more.
The week-long festival will then conclude with Festival of Summer Sounds, an indoor music concert at Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) for 13 to 17-year-olds on Friday, 15 January.
Featuring a lineup of unearthed performers, along with headline acts Jack Botts and The Dreggs, concert goers will be treated to an exclusive event for under 18s, with a young adult festival feel and non-alcoholic bars.
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett said adults won’t miss out on the action with Council proud to launch Festival of Summer Sounds 18+ which will be held at GECC on Saturday, 16 January.
“The 18-plus event also features unearthed performers including Jacinta Bradley, SHAW and Nathan Bedford along with Jack Botts and The Dreggs,” Councillor Burnett said.
“Tickets to the Days of Summer events are expected to sell fast, as many of the workshops and activities that proved so popular earlier this year are back for 2021.
“I’d also like to thank the Gladstone Region Youth Council who gave their expertise on what events appeal to young residents and they have ensured the activities chosen offer something for all.”
