Council contracted to work on Gladstone to Monto road widening project
Gladstone Region Mayor Matt Burnett has welcomed the funding announcement from the State Government for the upgrade of the Gladstone to Monto Road between Nagoorin and Ubobo.
“Completing this section of road has been a priority for the Boyne Valley community, and it is pleasing to be able to deliver this work with the State Government’s support," Councillor Burnett said.
Gladstone Regional Council has been successful in securing a Department of Transport and Main Roads’ contract to widen a section of the Gladstone to Monto Road.
Work on the final section of single sealed road between Nagoorin and Ubobo began this week.
"Council's road crews are currently clearing grass and excavating within the drains to prepare the road corridor for the double lane width," Cr Burnett said.
The project is expected to be finished in January 2020, weather permitting.
