Ratepayers reminded 10 per cent rate discount period nears end
Gladstone Regional Council reminds ratepayers the 10 per cent rate discount period will expire on Monday, 18 November 2019.
The original discount period was extended following community feedback and the transition to an annual combined rates bill.
Gladstone Region Councillor Kahn Goodluck said in order to support local families and small business, a notice of motion was put forward on 3 September to extend the discount period out to 90 days and the five percent discount period to 120 days.
The five per cent discount period has been extended to 18 December 2019.Cr Goodluck said property owners could make payments via a wide range of options to avoid paying a lump sum.
“This year, ratepayers can design their own payment plans which includes options to pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly and, for the first time, rates can also be paid on a quarterly or half-yearly basis,” Cr Goodluck said.
He reminded people to send in their rate instalment application by 18 December 2019 to avail of an interest free plan (if applicable).
“There are multiple ways you can make rates payments, including paying by instalments, online, by phone, mail, in person or direct debit.”
