Through Council’s Community Investment Program, Community Celebration Funding for Ignite Event or Impact Event will close midnight, 30 September 2019 for events held between April 2020 to July 2020.

Gladstone Region Councillor Peter Masters said the funding is to assist not-for-profit groups based in or servicing the Gladstone Region, businesses based in or servicing the Gladstone Region or not-for-profit sporting organisation/active recreation group based in the Gladstone Region.

“Funding from the Community Celebration Fund is to help organisations and businesses bring their event to life,” Cr Masters said. 

“Not only does supporting these events ensure we have a fantastic calendar of things to do within our region, they also bring both economic and social benefits for the community.”

Cr Masters said Ignite Event funding is to help emerging events across the region, and applicants can apply for up to a maximum of $10,000 (ex GST).

“An Ignite Event would contribute to community pride/social outcomes and regional economy that attract up to 2500 participants,” he said. 

Cr Masters said Impact Event funding is to help established events across the region, and applicants can apply for up to a maximum of $25,000 (ex GST).

“An Impact Event would demonstrate tourism and regional economy benefits and attract between 2500 to 5000 participants, with 10 per cent of those being out-of-region visitors.”

The Ignite Event funding would replace Council’s Regional Sport and Recreation Event Grant Program funding, and Sport and Recreation clubs that have previously applied are now to apply underneath this fund.
